HIES SCORES WELL IN STATE ACCOUNTABILITY

Just Released:  Harkers Island Elementary School scored a "B" in State Accountability and EXCEEDED GROWTH for the 2018-19 school year.  Each year, all schools in NC receive an Accountability Grade based on Academic Performance - comprised of 80% proficiency and 20% growth.  We are proud of our score this year and we were only 2 points away from an "A"!!  This is a true testament to our masterful staff, our hard-working and amazing students, and your unwavering support at home.  Thank you and keep on LIGHTING THE WAY!!!

DONATION STATION

If you would like to help, here are a few ways.

1. Donate STEM supplies.  We are always accepting items to build stuff with:  pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, toothpicks, dowel rods, bins for storage, blocks, cups, ziplock bags, cardboard, paper towel rolls, Legos, etc.

2. Game system (like Nintendo, X-box, Playstation) for our PBIS reward room!

3. Prizes for our weekly PBIS drawing.  New or unused items that we can use as weekly prizes for our kids who are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.

4. Plants and soil for our sign.

5. We will be creating a "tinker station" in STEM class.  Looking for things that we can take apart and fix or figure out how it works.  Gladly accepting broken stuff that might serve this purpose.  Thanks
