Principal's Message for the week of 12.11.17

Announcements for the Week of December 11th, 2017

Good Morning, this is Jessica Emory the Principal of Harkers Island with the announcements for the coming weeks. This announcement can also be located on the school website on the main page.

Week Events:

For the week of December 11th:

  • Tuesday the 12th at 1:30 is the Harkers Island Holiday performance.  Family and friends are invited to attend.  Doors will open no earlier than 1:20 due to dress rehearsal.  Parents may check out students after the performance in the teacher’s classrooms by signing them out with the classroom teacher.  Specific directions will be provided at the end of the performance.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos by the HIES sign after the performance, for students who are checked out.  Lunch schedules are altered this day with students eating at different times.  Outside lunch guests will not be able to eat with students this Tuesday.
  • Friday the 15th is a half day with the student day ending at 12:00.

Holiday Break

Students are on Holiday Break from the 18th of December through January 1st.  Students return to school on January 2nd.  The school will be closed during this time and workers will be working on the old office space and the new lobby expansion.

Holiday Parade
This weekend is the Down East holiday parade in Otway.  HIES will be participating.  If you are interested in participating with us, check the flyer that was sent home with your student for details.

Main Office and Moves

We are in the process of moving the Main Office, Counselor’s Office, and Principal’s office to the newly constructed spaces.  We are excited to begin using our new sick and medicine distribution room.  Thank you for your patience during our move.

Morning Drop-Off

The doors to the school are not open in the morning for morning drop-off earlier than 7:30.  Parents are required to wait until 7:30 for drop- off.  This is a CCS and HIES policy due to the supervision availability of staff and workday hours.  Thank you for supporting our staff and policy but not dropping your student(s) off before 7:30.

Follow HIES on Twitter @HIESPrincipal and/or on our main website.

If you have any questions please call the Front Desk at 252-728-3295. This message has been posted on the school website for your reference.
